Technology & Manufacturing Association

About TMA

WHERE WE BEGAN...

In 1925, eight small to midsize manufacturers came together to address the need for cooperation and to better themselves through association with each other. This shared concern and mutual agreement laid the foundation for the Die, Tool, Special Machinery and Manufacturers Association, later to be named the Tool & Die Institute, and then the Tooling & Manufacturing Association, which is today the Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA).

WHO WE ARE...

TMA is an independent trade association exclusively focused on assisting and promoting small and midsize manufacturers.

WHAT WE DO...

We partner with small and midsize manufacturers to assist them in maintaining and growing their businesses by providing practical solutions:

Community | Provide mutual support and connection among our members and within the small to midsize manufacturing industry.
Information | Serve as a direct and indirect source of information and assistance that helps our members operate more successfully.
Training | Help our members train, educate, and certify their personnel at all levels – from entry to apprentice to manager/owner.
Resources | Pool the purchasing power of our members in order to provide them products and services that benefit their businesses.
Advocacy | Create a positive public image of the industry and advocate for a business and public policy environment conducive to our members’ growth.

WHY WE DO IT...

Three-quarters of the 251,901 manufacturing firms in the U.S. are small to midsize. They’re entrepreneurial, innovative, responsive and forward-looking. They employ vast numbers of people supporting countless individuals, families and communities. We do what we do because we value and celebrate the critical role small and mid-size manufacturers play in the U.S. economy, and we appreciate the need of them to be networked, informed, trained, and promoted.
